Here is a message from all GP practices across Sheffield to our patients.
We are living through exceptional times, thank you for taking government guidance seriously and social distancing, we know it has been hard.
We want to remind you that although we are doing things in a different way, GP services are still open and we are still here for you when you need us.
If you have new symptoms, need help managing a long term condition or are worried about a change in your health please contact your GP practice.
You aren’t wasting our time, it’s important you see us so we can help you as soon as possible.
Your GP and practice nurse can help with a number of conditions and symptoms such as:
- A new lump or bump or one that has in changed size
- Passing blood when you urinate or have a bowel movement
- A change in bowel movements that’s lasted longer than 3 weeks
- Swallowing or chewing, or a feeling that something is stuck in your throat
- Losing or gaining weight without explanation
- A new mole or a mole that has changed
- Coughing, chest pain and breathlessness that’s lasted for more than 3 weeks
- Managing long term conditions
- Routine vaccinations
- Contraception and sexual health.
- The sooner you get your symptoms checked, the sooner we can start any treatment you may need. To arrange an appointment, contact us on our usual number. You will be offered a telephone or video consultation with a GP or nurse. If your GP or nurse thinks you need a face to face appointment, they will arrange one for you. If you need to come into see us, practice staff will be wearing special equipment to protect you and them from coronavirus. We are all taking steps to make sure everyone is as safe as possible when patients have to come in to practice. Please don’t turn up without an appointment.
- From Friday 27th March 2020, due to the currently ongoing Pandemic, the Practice will be closed between 12.30pm - 1.30pm Mon – Fri until further notice. If you need anything urgently during the above times, please telephone the practice on 0114 2488187
- Please note online appointment bookings have been temporarily suspended due to the need to triage all patients for Coronavirus prior to arriving in the premises. Please be patient with us as we try and support the community in the best way.
- Annual review appointments for diabetes, COPD and asthma etc with the nurse are also now telephone appointments and they will try to call you at the time of your previously scheduled appointment.
- For nurse appointments which cannot be done over the phone, ie, smears, bloods, immunisations, blood pressure , coils, depo injections, etc we are asking that you still attend for your scheduled appointment, but if you are experiencing any flu like symptoms please contact us to reschedule your appointment. The doors will be locked but please use the buzzer in the lobby, you will be asked screening questions before we let you in.
- We would encourage as many patients as possible to register to order prescriptions online where they can. We will ask you a number of questions over the phone to establish your identity so that you don’t have to attend to show ID.
- Please be patient we are experiencing a high call demand, but we will answer your call as soon as we can.
- If you have a continuous cough OR Loss of sense of taste or smell OR fever (temperature over 37.8) you MUST NOT COME INTO THE PRACTICE.If you have a continuous cough OR Loss of sense of taste or smell OR fever (temperature over 37.8) but feel WELL you can just stay at home and self isolate for 7 days you DO NOT need to ring 111 or be tested. You must not come to the surgery Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:
- Like the common cold, coronavirus infection usually occurs through close contact with a person with novel coronavirus via cough and sneezes or hand contact. A person can also be infected by touching contaminated surfaces if they do not wash their hands.
- If you have A continuous cough OR Loss of sense of taste or smell OR fever (temperature over 37.8) but feel UNWELL. CALL 111 or use who will assess and advise you on what to do. You must not come to the surgery.
- These arrangements will be in place until further notice.
- Remember, you MUST NOT attend the Surgery if you have a fever, flu like illness, cough, loss of taste or smell, or breathlessness, in which case you must self-isolate and use the 111 service if necessary. - Prescription/Collection : We want to limit the number of patients attending the surgery where possible. If you have prescriptions which are awaiting collection please note we can send them to the pharmacy of your choice, but you will need to inform us of this by telephone informing us where you would like them to go. If you still need to collect from surgery, the doors will be locked, please use the buzzer in the lobby and we will bring this to you.
- PLEASE ENSURE WE HAVE YOUR UP TO DATE MOBILE PHONE NUMBERS.
- Appointments: All GP appointments are now telephone appointments, and the doctor will telephone you on the day of your appointment. They will discuss the best way forward. Please make sure you have your phone with you at all times so that you do not miss this call.
- In light of the current COVID pandemic please can we ask that you share with friends and family the information posted on here as it comes directly from the surgery.
- Remember, you MUST NOT attend the Surgery if you have a fever, flu like illness, cough or breathlessness or loss of sense of taste or smell, in which case you must self-isolate and use the 111 service if necessary. You can organise a test on the NHS Website.
Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands. • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

When the Practice is closed- If you require medical assistance urgently please ring the normal surgery number 0114 2488187 and you will be put through to the out of hours service, or alternatively call 111.
Prescription Changes:- Please note that due to high demands on our service, from Monday 4th November 2019 prescriptions brought in or ordered online on the following days, may require 3 days to process before collection from the surgery.

Online Services - To be able to make and cancel appointments online, and request repeat medication online, please bring your ID to reception to obtain your password and instructions. If we know you well we may be able to vouch for your identity, and register you without ID.
Can't get a convenient appointment: We may have appointments available at our hubs on evenings and weekends, please contact Reception.
